How to succeed as an introvert in an extroverted world

Introverts benefit from reflecting on thoughts and feelings. Extroverts crave people and activity. If you’d rather recharge by being on your own than being in a group, if you’ve carefully selected close relationships rather than many casual acquaintances or if you prefer to think carefully about what you’re going to say before speaking, then you’re on the introverted end of the spectrum.

It’s estimated that between a third and a half of the population is introverted. However, there’s a cultural bias towards extroversion. This means that workplace cultures and practices are often set up in favour of extroverts, the people that speak up first or loudest, the people that are seen to be participating and who are well known in an organisation.

Our expert speaker is Emma Taggart, a leadership coach for introverts.

Join us to learn practical tips about:

  • Understanding the different needs of introverts and extroverts
  • Succeeding as an introvert and supporting the introverts around you
  • How managing your energy is as important as managing your time

Join us on Thursday 9 July, 6pm-8pm (UK time)

Your Speaker:

Emma Taggart is the leadership coach for introverts. She was previously director of policy at a breast cancer charity and chief of staff to David Lammy MP. Experience taught Emma how to overcome the frustration and exhaustion of working in a culture that values big talkers more than people who prefer to listen and reflect.

She established her coaching practice to help ambitious introverts succeed in an extroverted world. Emma works with new and emerging leaders to cultivate a style that works with introversion, not against it.
